What is Safety Town?
Safety Town is a one-week summer program (2 hours per day) for children ages 5–6.
The program teaches real-world safety skills, including:
- Stranger awareness
- Traffic and pedestrian safety
- Fire safety
- Bicycle safety
- Bus safety
- Water safety
- Poisons (including drugs)
- Gun safety
Safety Town is fully accredited by the National Safety Town Center and serves as a model for similar programs nationwide.
Who Can Attend?
- Children must be 5 or 6 years old during their session
- No exceptions (not younger, not older)
- Open to families outside Guilford County

- Duration: 1 week (Monday–Friday)
- Time: 2 hours per day
- Sessions: Multiple sessions offered throughout the summer
- Locations: Lewis Recreation Center & Barber Park
